Monopoly Property Prices and Rents

Most Monopoly arguments come down to one question: what does this square actually cost. Here is the whole standard board, so the banker never has to hunt for the title deed.

Station and utility rents

  • Stations: 25 with one owned, 50 with two, 100 with three, 200 with all four.
  • Utilities: 4× the dice roll with one owned, 10× the dice roll with both.

The rule most tables get wrong

Rent doubles on an unimproved property when one player owns the whole colour group — before any house is built. Many players only start doubling once houses appear, which quietly changes the whole economy of the game.

Frequently asked questions

1,500 in the standard rules, usually as 2×500, 2×100, 2×50, 6×20, 5×10, 5×5 and 5×1.

No. A hotel replaces four houses on that property, and the houses go back to the bank. Building must also stay even across the colour group — you cannot put a third house on one property while another still has one.
